Current Lab Members

Nathaniel G. Harnett, PhD
Director
Nate is Director of the NATE Lab at McLean Hospital and an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He earned his PhD in Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham under the mentorship of David C. Knight, PhD. He then completed postdoctoral training at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School with Kerry J. Ressler, MD/PhD. Nate's research primarily focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms of susceptibility to trauma and stress-related disorders. In addition to his research activities, Nate is currently a co-editor of Mental Health Science. Nate's work has been funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, the National Institute of Mental Health, the Ford Foundation, and the Brain Behavior Research Foundation.

E. Kate Webb, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Kate Webb, PhD is a postdoctoral fellow at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She earned her PhD under the mentorship of Dr. Christine Larson at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and in collaboration with the Milwaukee Trauma Outcomes Project. Kate conducts both basic and translational research using neuroimaging, behavioral assessments, and molecular genetics, to better understand the biological underpinnings of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Her research focuses on how structural inequities, individual characteristics, and neurobiology interact to influence the course of psychological recovery after trauma

Prospective members are encouraged to reach out directly to Nate Harnett (nharnett@mclean.harvard.edu)
to determine if there are currently open positions. Further, it is strongly encouraged to ask to speak with both
current and former members of the group to get a better sense of Nate as a mentor/research advisor and
make sure you end commit to a place you will be able to grow in.
